The Ferguson-Florissant School District launched a summer initiative aimed at enhancing literacy and nurturing a passion for reading among students and their families. Congresswoman Cori Bush joined the Summer Reading Kick-Off assembly at Duchesne Primary School on Friday, May 31st.
As part of this initiative, Kindergarten through second-grade students throughout the district received ten Just Right Reader Science of Reading decodable books to take home, helping them maintain and build upon the literacy skills they developed during the school year. Additionally, all K-2nd grade teachers will receive classroom library sets for next school year.
“The books we reviewed from Just Right Reader scored highly for providing engaging storylines and culturally relevant topics for our students while remaining decodable for beginning readers.” -David Murray, Chief Academic Officer
